Come to Beaufort, NC

Beaufort, North Carolina remains an understated gem on the Central Coast.

Founded in 1704, Beaufort is home of Blackbeard the Pirate and the state’s prized wild horses on Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island. The town of 4,000 is renowned for its charm and present-day vitality. Visitors come to get away, indulge in fresh seafood at the award winning Beaufort Grocery Company or bike past Victorian-era homes with wide porches and friendly neighbors. Beaufort, NC was cited as ‘coolest American town” (TravelMag 2012) and “most charming small town” (BudgetTravel 2017) in North Carolina. The distinction comes after a comparative survey of 50 travel writers, photographers and other professionals.

The historic waterfront district best embodies the town’s coveted status as the third oldest city in North Carolina, and Inlet Inn is central to this district. The Inlet Inn faces south toward Taylor’s Creek, and rooms overlook the sailboats and yachts speckling the town’s laid-back Inlet. It boasts one of the best views on the East Coast, as upper floors offer a long view out the Beaufort Inlet toward Cape Lookout. A historic site itself, the Inlet Inn evokes the rich history of this coastal region: the first Inlet Inn was built in the 1850s and the property today is in the midst of the oldest and most sought out parts of the town.
